Urgent need for repair

When prices for a service such as car insurance in Germany have to be increased by more than 50 percent within two years (2023-2025), something is fundamentally wrong. The increases would have been even higher if the burden on insurers due to natural disasters had not been 50 percent lower in 2024 than in 2023. The primary reason for these (necessary) massive price adjustments is the equally exorbitant increase in spare parts and workshop costs for car manufacturers. So far so good. But how should insurers act in the face of this crisis, which is ruthlessly exposing their structural weaknesses? Some answers can be found in the article by Cornelius Welp in yesterday's Welt am Sonntag, in which I am quoted.
